KRISTEN DUFFY

Attorney & CPA

Kristen is an attorney, certified public accountant, and real estate broker. With a friendly, straightforward approach, Kristen listens carefully to her clients’ needs. She provides counsel on options that will best achieve their goals on a wide range of litigation and transactional matters. She concentrates her practice in real estate, business, family, estates & trusts, and tax law.

 

In addition to practicing law, she has been retained as an expert witness in several Domestic Relations and Chancery cases involving financial disputes and has testified at trial for purposes of rendering her opinion.

 

Further, she served as treasurer of the Chicago Women’s Criminal Defense Bar Association for five years. She also has been invited as a keynote speaker to attorneys regarding how to prevail on Petitions for Relief of Judgments that are more than 30 days old as well as Chicago landlords and real estate agents regarding obligations and remedies under the Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance.

 

Prior to completing law school, Kristen was a tax consultant at Ernst & Young, RSM McGladrey, and Deloitte. While attending law school, Kristen gained invaluable experience serving as a judicial extern for a Will County family law judge and a law clerk for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the narcotics asset forfeiture unit.

 

Outside of work, you often will find Kristen and her wife, Kelly, indulging in thin-crust pizza, cheering at a sporting event, or training for a long-distance race.

Cara Strauss

Paralegal

Cara's career as a paralegal spans over 10 years, working for both large law firms and high-volume practitioners. She has helped close numerous residential and commercial real estate transactions and has vast experience in foreclosure, tax error, and title clearance matters. Having also worked as a sales assistant for Proper Rate and CrossCountry Mortgage, she has extensive knowledge on the real estate lending process. Cara enjoys speaking with clients and thrives in a fast-paced environment. She is very efficient and organized, handling all client matters with care. When not working, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and children, who keep her on her toes, and cooking homemade family meals.
